Deleting your Krateion account
Last updated: 19 August 2026
This page explains, without dressing it up, what happens when you delete your Krateion account (krateion.mchana.es): what is closed immediately, what data is erased and when, what survives and why, and how to obtain full erasure. Krateion is run by a private individual, Manuel Chana, and is self-hosted on hardware located in Spain. You can read this page without signing in.
1. How to request deletion
Deletion is requested from inside the app itself, while you are still signed in:
- Open Profile → Settings.
- Scroll down to the Danger zone section.
- Tap Delete account and type the confirmation word (DELETE) exactly as shown.
Once confirmed, your session ends and you are returned to the sign-in screen. Nothing has to be emailed to anyone: from there on everything is automatic, and section 2 explains what happens and when.
2. What is deleted, and when
It happens in two stages, and both of them are automatic. You do not have to email anyone or wait for someone to do it by hand.
Immediately. On confirmation the account is closed and its final deletion is scheduled. From that very second:
- Nobody can sign in with that account again, and sessions left open on other devices stop working.
- Your profile disappears from the feed, the leaderboard, the gym screens and search results.
- Any public share links you had created stop resolving.
- Your notification subscriptions are removed: your phone stops buzzing.
After 30 days, without you asking for anything. An automatic process that runs every night physically erases your account and everything hanging off it. And a watchdog checks that this process is still running: if it stopped, or if a deadline passed unmet, an alert fires. Erased:
- Workouts, sets, routines, exercises you created yourself and personal records.
- Body metrics, measurements and progress photos — the files on disk too, not just the database rows.
- Recovery entries, steps, sleep and daily intake.
- Activity imported from Health Connect, Apple Health, Strava, Polar and Withings.
- Notification and integration tokens, and your AI provider key.
- Your feed posts, your friendships, your gym membership and your challenge entries.
- Your security audit log, IP address included. It used to survive deletion; now it goes with the account.
If you would rather not wait the 30 days, write to manuelchana1988@gmail.com and it is carried out sooner.
3. What remains afterwards, and why
Even after final deletion three things survive, and it is only fair to say so:
- The record that the deletion happened. A date, an internal identifier and a count of deleted rows. No email address, no name, nothing about you: just the proof that the deadline was met, which is exactly what was missing before.
- Encrypted backups that already contained your data. They are not edited one by one: they expire through natural rotation — 14 daily, 4 weekly and 6 monthly copies, which means up to six months.
- Whatever lives on external platforms you connected yourself. Krateion does not control what Strava, Polar or Withings keep, nor what the AI provider you sent data to with your own API key keeps. Those deletions have to be requested from each of them directly.
4. Before deleting: alternatives
What you want may not be to disappear altogether. There are three gentler ways out:
- Export your data from Progress → Export my data. You get a ZIP with
datos.json(the complete dump, to take with you to another app), acsv/folder that opens straight into Excel or LibreOffice, your progress photos and a README explaining what each file is. It is the complete export that covers the GDPR right to data portability. - Disconnect a single integration from Profile → Settings → External services, without touching the account. Data stops flowing in from that service and everything else carries on as before.
- Set your feed visibility to Private, if the only thing bothering you is showing up in front of other people. With that setting no activity is published and you do not appear in your friends’ feed.
5. You can change your mind for 30 days
For the 30 days between closure and final deletion the account is closed but recoverable: just sign in again with your usual email and password. It comes back exactly as it was, with nothing lost and without emailing anyone.
After those 30 days there is no way back. Deletion is final: there is no copy to rescue the account from and no bin to go to. The email address and the username are released, and if you register again with them it will be a new, empty account.
6. Contact and complaints
Data controller: Manuel Chana. To request full erasure — or anything else concerning your data — write to manuelchana1988@gmail.com. Requests are answered within 30 days at most, as required by the GDPR.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD, www.aepd.es).
How data is handled in general is described in the full privacy policy.
